IceGuard

Contego Systems and Aviata Systems have formed a joint-venture to offer the most advanced deicing software on the market.

The software, called IceGuard, makes the process of aircraft deicing quicker, tracks data more efficiently, and provides a more cost-effective way of managing aircrafts between “off-gate” to “wheels-up”. IceGuard, developed by Aviata and offered through Contego Systems, is yet another point where Contego separates itself from the competition. The software platform include three pieces:

- Real-time Data Collection System via a touch screen module installed in each deicing truck. The touch screen collects information such as: customer, aircraft and flight numbers, start and stop time of each deicing step, and fluid quantities sprayed.

- IceGuard Web Interface. All information is easily accessible during or after the deicing event by the customer(s) using the IceGuard Web Interface, which allows for various reports, controls and key-performance indicators to be viewed and tracked.

- IceGuard Pad Control Module. This is a software application installed on a deicing pad controller’s computer which allows an operator to receive aircraft data as they depart the gate by automatically recognizing the airline, aircraft number and type. Once placed in a deicing queue, the operator can assign the aircraft to a specific deicing slot and automatically transmit the data to pre-assigned deicing trucks. The system will even assign a deicing slot time to an aircraft preparing to leave the gate, allowing the airline to make the decision to hold loading and thus reduce the time queued to deice and the high cost of engine idling.

IceGuard optimizes all aspects of the deicing process. It takes deicing into the modern age by effectively tracking, controlling and reporting deicing event details in real time.

Contego Systems also ensures a lower cost by utilizing our own proprietary mass notification system, Universal Alert, for event staffing. Developed by Contego’s sister company (SetNine IT Services) Universal Alert (www.UniversalAlert.com) allows our leads and supervisors to effortlessly communicate to our staff via phone, email and text message with a click of the mouse or a single phone call. Instead of spending time making single phone calls to staff, determining one by one if they are available to work a deicing event, Universal Alert sends out all of the calls in seconds, tabulating reports on who is available and who is not. It is yet another example of how Contego Systems operates at a lower cost by doing things in a smart, efficient manner, rather than an old-fashioned and inefficient way.
